Chestnut Tree

Chestnut Tree

$5.00 USD

30 Minutes • 432Hz • Living Plant Signals • Piódão, Portugal

A listening experience shaped by the real bioelectric activity of a living Chestnut Tree growing among the mountains and flowing waters of Piódão, Portugal.

Bioelectric sensors were gently connected to the tree.

Subtle changes in its electrical conductivity were translated into control signals and allowed to influence a modular synthesizer tuned to 432Hz.

This is not the acoustic voice of the tree.

It is a musical translation of a living process.

Nothing is hurried.

Nothing is forced.

I create the space.

The living signal changes what happens inside it.

🌿 A LIVING CHESTNUT TREE

Piódão is surrounded by mountains, water and long stretches of silence.

Dark schist houses rise from the hillside.

Narrow roads disappear into the landscape.

Chestnut trees have belonged to this region for generations, offering food, shade, wood and nourishment through winter.

This tree stood beside the mountain water.

Rooted in the earth.

Open to light, air, moisture and changing conditions.

Sensors detected subtle variations occurring within the living tree and its immediate environment.

Those variations became movement.

Pitch.

Texture.

Space.

A musical moment that will never happen in exactly the same way again.

🏔 THE SILENCE OF PIÓDÃO

In Piódão, silence does not feel empty.

It feels spacious.

The roads narrow.

The signal disappears.

The mountains draw closer.

And slowly, the smallest things become noticeable again.

Water moving around stone.

Leaves touching the air.

Your own breathing.

Silence does not demand your attention.

It simply removes everything that was competing for it.

This recording carries something from that place.

Not complete stillness.

A quieter way of being present.

🌰 PROTECTION AND NOURISHMENT

The Chestnut carries nourishment inside a shell of thorns.

Protection surrounding something soft and sustaining.

Perhaps we do something similar.

We create distance around what feels vulnerable.

We become guarded when something precious needs protection.

But the shell is not the whole tree.

And it does not remain closed forever.

When the season is right, it opens.

The Chestnut offers no instruction.

Only a quiet image:

Stay rooted.

Protect what matters.

Open in your own time.

🎛 CREATED WITH LIVING PLANT BIOELECTRICITY

Every Bio Music Vibrations recording begins with a living plant.

Small electrodes register variations in electrical conductivity associated with the plant and its surrounding conditions.

These variations are converted into control signals that interact with a modular synthesizer.

The tonal environment is created by me.

The living signal influences how it moves within that environment.

For this recording, the sound world was tuned to 432Hz, creating an open and spacious ambient landscape around the Chestnut Tree’s changing activity.

There is no fixed sequence controlling every moment.

The tree is not asked to follow the music.

The music follows the living signal.

🌱 BIO MUSIC VIBRATIONS

Bio Music Vibrations began with a simple question:

What happens when we stop placing nature behind the music and allow it to influence the music itself?

Every recording begins with a living plant.

Sensors register subtle bioelectric variations.

Technology translates them.

A modular synthesizer gives them musical form.

But beneath the equipment, the intention remains simple:

To listen differently.

This Chestnut Tree was standing among the mountains and flowing waters of Piódão before I arrived with sensors, cables and a synthesizer.

When the recording ended, I removed the sensors.

The water continued.

The mountains remained silent.

And the tree returned to a life that had never truly been interrupted.

For thirty minutes,

I had the privilege of listening.

It reveals what remains.
